Snippet of the prologue:

“Oh, I was going to ask you to dance,” a blush bloomed on his pale cheeks, “but if you’re leaving, do you need a ride home?”

She choked down the lies she had to tell, “No, I have a ride, but thank you.”

Jax searched her eyes for a moment. It appeared he wanted to ask her something, but he shuffled his feet and put his hands in his pockets. “Okay. I guess I’ll see you around then.”

Jenny, startled at the pain in his voice, launched herself at him, and he engulfed her in a warm embrace, “Bye, Jax. I’ll miss you,” she mumbled into his chest. She pulled away and began to hurry toward the house. As she did, a paper fell from her open purse.

Jax stood there, too stunned to move, as Jenny walked out of Lilly Rose Manor and left the only life she had ever known. As he snapped out of it, he noticed the paper, stark white against the cobblestone path. He reached to pick it up and gasped at what was written. He needed to find Rosie and Poe
